Ingredients
- 250 g Halloumi cheese
- 15 ml Olive oil
- 160 g Pita bread
- 120 g Tomato
- 100 g Cucumber
- 50 g Red onion
- 30 g Lettuce
- 100 g Greek yogurt
- 5 g Garlic
- 2 g Dill
- 10 ml Lemon juice
- 2 g Salt
- 1 g Black pepper
- 2 g Dried oregano
Preparation
- Prepare the tzatziki sauce: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, minced garlic, chopped dill, a squeeze of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- Slice the halloumi cheese into strips, about 1 cm thick. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the halloumi strips and sprinkle with dried oregano. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- While the halloumi cooks, warm the pita bread according to package instructions (e.g., in a dry pan, microwave, or oven) until soft and pliable.
- Assemble the gyros: Spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each warm pita bread. Layer with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion.
- Add the cooked halloumi strips on top of the vegetables. Fold or roll the pita bread to create a gyros wrap.
