How do you scan a product?

- Open the barcode scanner
- Point the camera at the barcode
- Check the recognised product
- Set the portion and add it to the diary
How does the app identify a product?
NOT AI
Fitaily reads the barcode and looks the product up in a database. This is separate from AI analysis and from photo analysis — it does not use image recognition to identify the product.
Verify and correct data
Product data can be incomplete or outdated. Before saving you can correct the nutrition values and set the portion.
What if the product is missing?
If a product is not found, you can add it manually or use another input method, such as a text description or a photo.
How it differs from photo analysis
The barcode scanner identifies a specific packaged product by its code. Photo analysis estimates values from an image of the meal. They are different features with different accuracy and requirements.
The barcode scanner does not require Premium. Photo analysis requires Premium in the iOS app.
