Activity analysis in Fitaily
Describe a workout and Fitaily estimates calories burned, water needs and suggested recovery time. The analysis can run locally or in the cloud, depending on the mode.
How does activity analysis work?
FLOW
You provide the activity type and duration and, when possible, distance and intensity. Fitaily estimates calories burned, suggested hydration and recovery time.
In Private mode the local model uses your latest known weight to estimate energy expenditure.
What does the analysis return?
- Estimated calories burned
- Suggested hydration
- Suggested recovery time
These are estimates to help plan your day, not a lab measurement.
Locally or in the cloud?
MODES
Activity estimates can run locally in Private mode (Apple Foundation Models) or in the cloud in Advanced mode. The local mode does not require Premium; the cloud mode requires Premium in the iOS app.
Activity analysis modes| Aspect | Private | Advanced AI |
|---|
| Runs where | On a compatible iPhone | In the cloud |
|---|
| Internet | No, when the model is available | Yes |
|---|
| Premium (iOS) | No | Yes |
|---|
Limitations
Energy expenditure depends on many factors the app does not know exactly. Treat results as an approximation and context, not a precise measurement.
